ADVISING
The staff of College of Career Training makes every effort to maintain close communication with its students. Students have access to faculty and administrative staff for financial assistance, vocational and academic advising. Students experiencing personal problems, which require professional counseling and is requested by the students, will be referred to the appropriate agencies.
Referral Services:
HOUSING
Upon application to College of Career Training out-of-area applicants will, upon request receive information about local or dormitory housing available. In Northern California, while it is not necessary, auto transportation is desirable. Housing is not owned or maintained by College of Career Training.
MEDICAL CARE
College of Career Training is located near excellent hospitals and will refer students to one of them whenever the need should arise. In the case of emergencies, 911 will be called.
REFRESHER TRAINING
Graduates who desire refresher training within 1 year of graduation, in any of the courses, may be admitted to retake a desired module. The charge for such training, if any, will be determined at the time of enrollment. Admittance is based on space availability.
CAREER DEVELOPMENT AND EMPLOYMENT ASSISTANCE
This process is on going throughout your training and included in each subject or modules. This specific instruction is designed to give you that edge in successfully gaining the employment you are training for. Instruction may include areas such as: Proper Grooming for Successful Interviews, Resume writing, Successful Interviewing Techniques, Mock Interviews, and Employment applications. Instruction through Career development leads many students to eye opening approaches to job searching and ultimately, successful employment.
COLLEGE OF CAREER TRAINING CANNOT AND DOES NOT GUARANTEE EMPLOYMENT
Only the employer can make that final decision. College of Career Training Placement Assistance Department provides direct assistance to students near their completion date and beyond graduation. Delays in course completion may result in delaying employment assistance activity. The student will be required to meet with the Placement Assistance Coordinator. Each student shall prepare a typed resume for the Placement Assistance Coordinator and always be DRESSED FOR SUCCESS, as one never knows when an employer may call!!
COLLEGE OF CAREER TRAINING PROVIDES CAREER PLACEMENT ASSISTANCE TO ALL GRADUATES IN GOOD STANDING
Sacramento County is one of the fastest growing, Medical, and Business Computer employment markets in the country. College of Career Training maintains a Placement Department to assist graduates in contacting companies in order to secure employment. The Placement Assistance Coordinator acts as a liaison between the graduate and the employment community. Information on job search techniques is provided to soon-to-graduate students and graduates based on current needs of local businesses and industries.
NOTE: All graduates will be considered to need placement assistance unless a signed student waiver of placement assistance, with a written explanation, in the student file. Graduates waiving placement assistance may still receive placement assistance by notifying the Placement Department that they again wish to be placed in an active, placement-seeking category. A successful job search is dependent upon a self-confident, well-prepared applicant with a pre-planned strategy. The entire staff as well as the Placement Assistance Coordinator will assist in this effort. While employment is not guaranteed, assuming cooperation on the part of the graduate, the Placement Office will work diligently with each graduate until he/she successfully obtains employment.
The Placement Assistance Coordinator helps graduates develop and/or locate positions which best match the student’s capabilities and experiences. The Placement Assistance Coordinator is always available to assist in future years when College of Career Training. Alumnus contemplates a change in employment. Only graduates of College of Career Training School are eligible for placement assistance from College of Career Training.
The amount of effort put forth by the student is the most critical factor. Cooperation in the process will assure a more positive result. College of Career Training’s primary objectives are to provide the student in training and educate each student as well as assist them with employment in their chosen field. College of Career Training does not offer employment as an incentive to enrollment.
